Careers at Aescent

The best caregivers deserve to be treated like it.

We’re a small, nurse-practitioner-led home-care agency serving a handful of neighborhoods in Fort Bend and southwest Harris County. We pay above the local market, keep you with the same families, and put you close to home — because that’s how good care actually happens.

Why caregivers stay

Not another agency
that burns you out.

Above market

Pay that reflects the work

We pay meaningfully above the Houston average, because underpaying caregivers is why families keep meeting a different face every month. We’d rather pay well and keep you.

W‑2

A real job, not a gig

You’re a W‑2 employee, never a 1099 contractor. That means taxes handled, workers’ comp, and our bond and insurance covering you — not you left on your own.

Close to home

Short drives, steady clients

We work in two tight clusters of ZIP codes and match you with families near where you live. You keep the same clients — you get to actually know the person you care for.

Open position

We’re always hiring
caregivers we’d trust
with our own mother.

This is a standing opening. Even when we’re fully staffed, we keep talking to caregivers we’d be glad to place with the next family — because when a family needs someone, they need someone good, and they need them now.

We’re hiring across both of our service areas. In Fort Bend that’s Sugar Land, Missouri City and the First Colony, Riverstone and Sienna neighborhoods. In southwest Harris County it’s Bellaire, West University, Braeswood and Meyerland. If you live in or near any of these, we’d like to hear from you.

The questions caregivers actually ask

Straight answers,
before you apply.

How many hours will I get?

We build your schedule around the availability you give us and keep you with the same families, so your week is steady rather than scattered. We’re a growing agency, so we’ll be honest with you on day one about what we can offer — we’d rather tell you “we have twelve solid hours for you now, building from there” than overpromise forty and leave you sitting idle. As we take on families in your area, your hours grow with us.

How and when do I get paid?

You’re paid every week by direct deposit as a W‑2 employee — taxes withheld, nothing for you to sort out at year-end, and a real pay stub. No waiting two weeks, no waiting on a client to pay you, and no 1099 surprise in April.

What if I’m not certified yet?

That’s fine — a lot of great caregivers come to us without every box checked. We’ll walk you through getting your TB screening and CPR current as part of onboarding, and we help cover the cost. Prior experience helps but isn’t required; we train.

Do I need my own car?

Not for every role. If you’ll be driving clients to appointments or errands you’ll need a valid license and auto insurance, but we also place caregivers for in-home companionship and personal care where transport isn’t part of the job. Tell us your situation and we’ll match you accordingly.

Who you’d work for

You’d be working
with Salimah.

Aescent is owned and run by Salimah Panjwani, a family nurse practitioner who cares for her own mother at home. She builds every client’s care plan herself, and she started this agency because she saw how care falls apart when the people giving it aren’t paid properly, supported, or kept consistent.

That’s the whole reason this job looks the way it does. When you have a question or a hard day, you’re talking to her — not a call center three states away.

Our standards

Everyone here clears
the same screening.

We’re selective on purpose — it’s part of why families trust us and why you’ll be working alongside people who take this as seriously as you do. Before anyone meets a client, they complete every one of these, and we’ll walk you through each step — if you’re not sure whether something on your record is a problem, just ask us. We’d rather have the conversation than have you count yourself out.

Background & registries

Texas DPS criminal history, Employee Misconduct Registry, Nurse Aide Registry, and federal OIG/SAM exclusion lists.

Driving & health

Verified driving record and auto insurance for anyone transporting a client, plus current TB screening and CPR.

Skills sign-off

A hands-on competency assessment with a supervisor — not a video course you click through.
